 2002 Chowchilla Speedway WSS Sprints Rules

Engine
1) Cast iron block and heads only
2) No aluminum or exotic metals allowed
3) 360 cu.in maximum
4) Flat tappet cams only
5) Roller rockers and girdles ok
6) Gear drive and dry sump oil systems allowed
7) Aluminum 4 bbl intake allowed.
8) Holley 4412-2300series 500cfm carburetor
9) Venturi may be opened .010 over cataloge spec. Part # 4779 1 inch 11/16 throttle bore ,shafts and throttle plate must remain stock
10) Chock tower may be removed and jets may be changed
11) External jet allowed
12) The bottom of the carburetor may be no more that 4inches from the top the manifold. This includes adapters, spacers, ECT.
13) No ram intakes allowed
Ignition and starting
1) Any ignition system or magneto allowed
2) All cars must have working starters 2003
3) All flywheels must have scatter shield 180 degrees
4) All cars must be self starting and pull away under its own power at any time
5) All cars must have a securely mounted and covered 12 volt battery
6) Ignition switch must be clearly marked on/off within reach of driver
Fuel and Fuel system
1) Alcohol or gas ONLY
2) No fuel additives allowed
3) No electric fuel pumps
4) Fuel cell must be securely fastened must be sprint car or midget type with bladder
5) Fuel cell must be a minimum of 27gal but not exceed 40 gallon
6) Fuel tanks may not be mounted to the chassis utilizing any portion of the access plate or the nut plates bonded into the fuel bladder all mounting points (at least 4) must have inner and outer plates attached to the shell. These plates must be of adequate size to insure a securely mounted tank
7) All tanks must have a check valve on there vent
8) All cars must have a fuel shut off system clearly marked and within reach of driver
9) All fuel lines and filters must be securely mounted.
Exhaust
1) All cars must have mufflers and meet 95bds at 100ft
Chassis
1) All Sprint car or Sportsman Sprint chassis from 1984 to present allowed
2) All cars must weigh a minimum of 1750lbs with driver at all times
3) No titanium, carbon fiber or exotic light weight parts allowed
4) Minimum wheel base is 83 inches with a maximum of 90 inches
5) Minimum main cage structure to be no less than 1-3/8in O.D with a minimum wall thickness of .095in Chrome molly tubing
6) The cars body, motor, seat and fuel tank must be mounted to chassis center line
7) Sprint type bumpers and nerf bars made of tubing no less than 1inch O.D and .083inch thickness are mandatory and must be securely bolted to chassis using a minimum of quarter inch bolts
8) Side nerf bars may not stick out past outside of rear tires
Drive train and suspension
1) All drive trains must have a driveline or rear end coupler system (to disengage rear end from motor) Torque arm drivelines are not allowed. All drivelines must be enclosed and contain no more than one u-joint and that must be in front of the driveline
2) Buckley Yokes are ok
3) A torque tube safety strap or driveline hoop is mandatory
4) Any type conventional quick change with a maximum 2 inch offset is ok
5) Straight front axel only
6) One shock per wheel only
7) No independent rear suspension
8) Any conventional torsion bar, coil over or combination is ok
Wheels-Tires-Brakes
1) Any aluminum or steel six-pin or spline wheels allowed.
2) Wheel width
A) Front max 10inches
B) Left rear max 14inches
C) Right rear max 18inches
3) All wheels must have a 15inch diameter
4) Bead locks recommended
5) Any offset ok
6) Screw or dzus on wheel covers ok
7) Right rear tire MC3 mandatory (all others must just be a sprint car tire)
8) Minimum left front and left rear (inboard) brake system
9) Right rear brake optional
10) Steel or aluminum rotors only
Body
1) Conventional Sprint car hood, all hoods must be sealed at the air cleaner
2) No holes in hood, scoops ok but must be sealed at the top and back
3) Conventional side panels and tail tanks only
4) Top of right side arm guard to be no more than 36 inches from top of the bottom frame rail
5) No side foils, rudders or panels are to extend beyond roll cage on any side. No body pieces to exceed beyond or underneath front torsion tube except hood. No wedges or foils underneath car. No pieces may be added to car that will trap or form a windbreak other than those needed to cool motor or brakes
6) Flat engine belly pans ok
Safety stuff
1) Aluminum racing seats with padding are mandatory
2) Padded Head rest mandatory
3) Seat must be mounted to chassis in four places using 3/8in steel bolts. Each mounting hole in the seat must have a min 2in diameter mounting plate with a min of .060 thicknesses
4) All roll cage the is close to the driver must have roll cage padding
5) Knee guards in cockpit are mandatory
6) Right side Roll cage net is mandatory also recommended on both
7) Steering wheel must be a quick release type with the center padded
8) Neck collar, gloves, racing shoes, head sock or helmet skirt mandatory
9) Minimum 2 layer of protective clothing is required (1 layer must be fire retardant under garments)
10) SA 95 or newer full faced helmet is mandatory
11) A minimum of 3 throttle return springs
