CARDEY FINISHES 4TH AT PERRIS – HEADS TO TULARE THIS SATURDAY!
(MAY 25, 2009, RIVERSIDE, CA) Riverside, California’s David Cardey crept a little closer to the top of the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA point standings with a hard earned fourth place finish in the 30-lap Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night. Cardey began the night in second place just 16 points shy of the top rung on the point’s ladder. By the time the night was over, he had sliced that total in half and finds himself just eight digits out of the top spot as the series heads to the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California this Saturday night, May 30th.

The 33 year-old racing veteran had a bright start to the night when he qualified second in the 22 car field behind series point leader and defending champion Mike Spencer.

Starting last in his famous red #38 ITI Performance Racing Viper, Cardey grappled his way to a third place finish behind 2008 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame co-Rookie of the Year Cody Williams and 1998 Oval National Champion Rodney Argo in the second heat race. That finish placed the personable driver inside the fourth row for the start of the 30-lap main.

In the 22-car main event, Cardey worked his way up to fourth spot by the tenth lap. Searching high and low to find the fastest way around the brightly lit oval, Cardey consistently challenged Garrett Hansen and Greg Bragg for the second and third place spots. On more than one occasion, he poked his car into third.

When longtime Perris Auto Speedway starter Eddie Ramirez waved his checkered flag, Cardey ended up fourth behind winner Blake Miller, Bragg and Hansen. That finish was his third straight top five (the others were a first and second) in USAC/CRA competition. That is tops in USAC/CRA among all drivers for those three races. A complete list of Cardey’s 2009 finishes appears at the end of this release.

This Saturday, May 30th, Cardey will continue in his pursuit of the USAC/CRA crown when the series makes its annual appearance at the always exciting 1/3 of a mile Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California. The race will be his first ever in a 410 Sprint Car at the track.

As always, David Cardey wants to thank his valuable sponsors for making the 2009 season possible: ITI Motorsports, Empire Plumbing, Circle Track Racing, Racer’s Pub, Powell Pipe & Supply, Eibach Springs, Hoosier Tires, and Scott Daloisio Sports.
