VENTURA RACEWAY SPRINTERS GET ‘MOONED’ FOR THE FIRST TIME |

VENTURA, Calif. (March 15, 2008) – Ventura’s Tim Moon captured his first main event victory after eight years of trying when he won the Senior Sprint feature at Ventura Raceway Saturday. Moon was one of four first-time class winners at Ventura. The others were Oklahoma’s Tyler Edwards in the Junior Focus Midgets class, Greg Alexander (Gardena) in the Sprint Car class and Henry Clarke in the USAC Ford Focus Midgets. Randal Dougan (Camarillo) won the Sport Compact feature. Moon surprised himself with his victory. “I got nervous,” he said. “I started getting tired. I wasn’t sure I would get it done. How far behind was the next guy?” Moon’s margin of victory was about half a lap. The blustery, cool conditions changed the racing for the drivers. Ventura’s normal muddy surface disappeared early in the evening, challenging the drivers to adopt a different approach. Moon said, “I could see the bottom looked slick, so I thought, ‘Let’s try the top and see what happens.’” The event drew 91 racecars to the Seaside Park facility.
