SPRINT CARS & PASSCAR MODIFIEDS AT PERRIS! FANS BORN IN 1960S GET IN FOR $5.00 THIS SATURDAY!

(JULY 15, 2008, PERRIS, CA) Some of the 40ish and late 30ish fans will be out in force at Don Kazarian’s famous Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, July 19th, on 1960s Night when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PASSCAR Modifieds. Any fan who shows a valid id at the ticket window showing that they were born in the 1960s will get in for just $5.00. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with 21st Century Style Racing at 7:00 PM.

At intermission one lucky child will win a free bicycle courtesy of Gardner Motorsports and Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply will give away a free $25.00 gas card to a fan in the grandstands and another one to a winner in the pits.

When the popular series last appeared at the track on July 4th, Santa Maria, California veteran “Showtime” Danny Sheridan made a shambles of the field as he swept the show. He out qualified the 36 car field by nearly a half of a second and won his heat race from the back. Sheridan started the 30-lap Budweiser Firecracker 30 main event in the eighth spot and took the lead from series point leader Mike Spencer (Temecula, California) with a thrilling outside pass going into turn three on the 20th circuit. For his outstanding effort, the 33 year old Boeing employee will be presented with the Dean Thompson Award this Saturday night.

“That was the most dominating performance we have seen a long, long time at The PAS,” promoter Don Kazarian said on Monday. “The Kittle Motorsports team had that car hooked up and Danny drove it by everyone like they were tied to the crash wall. Man, was he ever fast!”

The victory shot Sheridan past “The Bullet” Blake Miller (Yorba Linda, California) and into second in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car championship standings. Heading into this Saturday’s race, Sheridan sits 67 points behind Spencer and a mere six points ahead of Miller.

The July 4th victory was Sheridan’s third of the 2008 campaign and ties for the series lead with 2006 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA champion Cory Kruseman of Ventura, California. Kruseman is currently racing in Indiana.

Joining the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on the doubleheader program will be the PASSCAR Modifieds. Longtime veteran Johnny Lathrop, of Riverside, California holds a 17 point lead over Hemet’s Kevin Busher heading into Saturday’s race. Norco, California’s Joe Shuagis is third in the standings while a pair of former open wheel drivers take up the fourth and fifth place spots. Torrance, California’s Toby Sampson, who raced SCRA Sprint Cars, and Riverside California’s Middy Boggio, who raced USRC Midgets in the 1970s, round out the top five.

Saturday’s battle for dirt track supremacy will include qualifying, ten lap heat races, a 12-lap B main event and a wild 30-Lap A main event for the sprint cars. The Modifieds will contest heats and a 20-lap main event. And, for the kids, there will be a Big Wheel heat race during one of the breaks in the action and, of course, the popular PAS Dance Contest at intermission.
