Steve Irwin Wins Thunderbird |
|
JUNE 21, 2008 --- After spinning in the first corner Steve Irwin Charged from the back of the pack to win the MTS A-main at Thunderbird Racepark Saturday night. At the start of the feature Mike Galadja took the lead for a couple circuits but a spin in turn 2 would make him tag the tail of the field. When racing resumed Nick Landon and Mike Astrauskas battled for the lead wile Steve Irwin Diced through the field. By lap 12 with the help of 2 cautions Irwin moved into the lead making the pass on Astrauskas. With the last caution coming late in the race a 1 lap dash would determine the finish, but no one had anything for Irwin taking the checkers followed by Nick Landon, Mike Astrauskas, Tom Miller and Joe Irwin rounding out the top 5. Steve Irwin and Tom Miller won heat races.
