STANBROUGH TWO FOR TWO AT TRI-STATE
by Eldon Butcher

Haubstadt, IN. - May 25, 2008. Jon Stanbrough won the $3,000 top prize at Tri-State Speedway on Sunday night of Memorial Day Weekend . The racing program featured the second appearance this season of the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series. For Stanbrough it was his second MSCS feature win in as many appearances to go two for two at the Speedway and in MSCS competition this season.

Jon Stanbrough started third in the 21 car field and took the lead on lap 18. The event brought out only one yellow flag. Three cars tangled in turn two of lap three with Kyle Cummins having the only car that needed a hook. Nineteen cars would finish the race. It was non stop green flag racing the rest of the way!

In victory lane the Brownsburg, IN, veteran turned questions into praise for the Fox Brothers Racing Team. “They worked real hard on the car to give me something that looks good out there. My job is to get in there and turn the wheel.” Sponsors for the team include Jarvis Enterprises, Fat Headz, and Advance Racing Systems.

Brady Short of Bedford, IN, finished second in the contest driving the Short Racing Indiana Stoneworks sprinter.. Short started the feature just behind Stanbrough to give the eventual winner “a run for the money.” He chased Stanbrough as they passed the other frontrunners and entered lapped traffic but would settle for second at the end of 30 laps.

Hunter Schuerenberg finished third. The Sikeston, MO, driver was on a mission after a crash in turn two at the beginning of the second heat sent him to the C-Main. Hunter won that to transfer to the 8th row of the 20 car B-Main with the top four getting the final transfers to the feature. A.J. Anderson started on the pole and led every lap to win the B. Schuerenberg was second flashing by car after car in the process. In the A Schuerenberg went to work again turning an 18th starting position into a respectable third place finish. The feat earned him the MSCS- Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of the Race.

Levi Jones was fourth in the team car to Schuerenberg. Jones ran as high as second during the feature. The two drivers were in the Jeff Walker owned Jam It In Storage machines. Daron Clayton finished fifth. Clayton set a torrid pace in leading the first 17 laps of the feature before encountering brake problems. Sixth through tenth spots went to Robert Ballou, A.J. Anderson, Jeff Bland Jr, Kyle Wissmiller, and Hud Cone. Dustin Morgan was the Wilwood Tuff Brakes winner for this show with an 11th place finish.

The four qualifying heats produced victories for Levi Jones, Kyle Wissmiller, Daron Clayton, and Jon Stanbrough. Forty sprinters occupied the pits!

The next MSCS event is set for the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL. The race is the first of two events for MSCS the weekend of June 6th and 7th. After running Friday at Morgan County, the MSCS sprints will return to Tri-State Speedway Saturday night to match-up with the KISS Series and provide race fans with a great opportunity to see the very best drivers of both circuits in competition together on the same track- the same night- for the only time this season.
