Davis Dazzles ASCS Canyon Region at Casa Grande |

Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (May 10, 2008) – Charles Davis, Jr., took advantage of Jeremy Sherman's ill fortune to capture his third Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region feature win of the year as the series made its first stop of the season at Central Arizona Raceway on Saturday night. Davis assumed the point with just a handful of laps remaining before reaching the checkered flag aboard the Don Ott-powered Massey Motorsports/Rod End Supply No. 50 DRC chassis. Davis spent the bulk of the feature event chasing defending series champion Sherman, who took command early after starting third. However, Sherman was forced to the work area with a flat left rear tire under a late caution, thus surrendering the lead to Davis. Davis took the checkered flag in front of pole starter Josh Pelkey, with Mike Martin racing into third after starting tenth. Justin Fisher was fourth, with 13th-starter R.J. Johnson rounding out the top five. Thomas Ogle was sixth, with Andrew Reinbold in seventh. Sherman recovered to finish eighth, with Jeff Slinkard and Bobby Taylor completing the top ten. Pelkey, Ogle and High topped heat race action, with Jeremy Reagles winning the Trophy Dash. Discount Tire Co.
