JEFFERSON COUNTY RACEWAY ADDED TO MSCS SCHEDULE
Mt. Vernon, IL - August 10.   The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will be racing on Saturday night August 18th at the Jefferson County Raceway in Mt. Vernon, IL.  This show was added to the schedule to fill the T.B.A. spot which had been previously held open on the 2007 MSCS schedule.  The event is a welcome addition to the continuing 2007 season schedule.  Officials of MSCS and Jefferson County Raceway are looking forward to an exciting and competitive sprint car race program.  Racing is set to begin at 6 o'clock.

Jefferson County Raceway opened on May 27th of this season with a new promotional team.  Jeremy Sneed, Justin Sneed, Marvin Sneed, and Kevin Greenwalt have taken over at the former Mt. Vernon Raceway which is located on Wells By-pass Road.  The MSCS sprints made their first appearance at the quarter mile oval in September of 2006 and
were well received by an enthusiastic crowd.

The race will be the second annual Illinois Sprint Car Championship.  The feature will be 25 laps in distance and pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start.  The Defending champion is Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, MO.

Illinois drivers in regular competition when the MSCS Sprint Cars arrive for a show include three time Champion Alex Shanks of Marion, Mitch and Kyle Wissmiller of Saybrook, Mat Neely of Robinson, Dave Mallady of Harrisburg, Randy Bateman and Bill Schemonia of Murphysboro, Doug Canham of Kincaid, Craig and Patrick Budde of Bartelso, Patrick Bruns of Champaign,  Dale Christian of Rantoul, and Chris Urish of Elkart.

The current points leader for the Midwest Sprint Car Series is Kyle Cummins of Princeton, IN.  He has a victory to his credit this season and has been a steady top ten performer.  The top ten drivers in MSCS points are listed below and the top five includes  Alex Shanks, Mitch Wissmiller, John Memmer, and Jerry Ruble.

Rookie drivers adding excitement to the mix each and every program include John Memmer, Arin Mcintosh, Kevin Thomas Jr., Ryan Brewer, and D.J. Ott.  McIntosh won the B-main at Paducah on August 3rd and continues in her quest to catch Memmer who leads in Rookie Points.  Engler Machine & Tool sponsors the Rookie of the Year Award!
