Sherman is an ASCS
Canyon Region Firecracker at Manzanita |

PHOENIX,
Ariz. (July 3, 2007) –
Jeremy Sherman continues to be unstoppable in American Sprint Car Series
Canyon Region competition at Manzanita Speedway, as he raced to victory lane
in Tuesday night's Firecracker 50 lap feature atop the 1/3-mile clay oval. The
triumph aboard Fred Bryan's Wesmar-powered F&E Development No. 77 Maxim
marked Sherman's ninth series triumph of the year in eleven events and kept
him undefeated in ASCS Canyon Region action in seven events at Manzanita
Speedway. Chad
Boat, an ASCS Canyon Region winner at Casa Grande on May 12, led the opening
handful of circuits from the front row outside before Sherman began
challenging for the point after earning the fifth starting position in the
Pole Dash. Sherman
and Boat battled back and forth for the lead until Boat was forced pitside
with mechanical problems, leaving Sherman to charge to the checkered flag. Josh
Pelkey claimed runner-up honors, with 16-year-old Michael Colegrove posting
his best seris finish of the year by taking the show position.
Bruce St. James charged from 18th to finish fourth, with
Chris Bonneau topping St. James' charge by racing from 23rd to
round out the top five. Mike
Martin crossed the stripe sixth, with 19th-starter Ronnie Clark,
Mike Leslie, Seainn Hendricsen and Andrew Reinbold completing the top ten. Sherman
raced from seventh to win the evening's opening heat race, with Scott Pasmore,
Charles Davis, Jr., and Jeff Henry also victorious in heat race action. Davis
earned the pole for the feature, but was sent to the tail when he failed to
report to the frontstretch within the mandated 25 minutes after the completion
of the "B" Main as fireworks entertained the large crowd.
Andrew Reinbold and Nick Aiuto also earned passes to the tail of the
field for not reporting on time. Bobby
