Sept. 25, 2006 –Madera (Calif.) Speedway will host the next USAC Western Sprint Car race, Oct. 21, as drivers and teams prepare for the stretch run to the 2006 championship. Mike Murgoitio of Boise, Idaho narrowed Tony Hunt’s point lead to 101 with his victory in Saturday’s 50-lap race at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif. Murgoitio led the last 40 laps in his GM Land & Cattle/MPH Enterprises Eagle/Losorwith while Hunt raced to second ahead of Tim Barber, Kody Swanson and Matt DeMartini. Jim Kaiser, who owns Hunt’s car, led the first 10 laps of the Shasta feature. USAC
