| AJ ANDERSON PIRATES THE HARDWARE AT LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY'S 3rd ANNUAL DICK GAINES MEMORIAL |

August 27, 2006 –
#34 AJ Anderson of State Line Indiana invaded the Lawrenceburg Speedway on
Saturday night, snatching the title and $3000 treasure at the 3rd annual Dick
Gaines Memorial. Anderson was followed to the checkers by #17 Chris Windom,
#3X Derek Franks, #4 Jon Stanbrough and #5 Kevin Briscoe.
Anderson, who is only able to compete at The Lawrenceburg Speedway a few times
a season, has had a great deal of success in his appearances at the 1/4 mile
Dearborn County bullring, including a previous win in the 2006 season.
That win came from another prestigious race, The Roy Mattlin Memorial/KISS
race, where AJ pocketed a $2500 payday and another over-sized trophy.
Anderson reminded the fans and competitors of his reputation as a purse
snatcher early in the evening by capturing the heat race victory in decided
fashion. That heat race win enabled him to redraw for Feature
starting position, where Anderson would redraw the outside front row for
the starting the line-up.
From the drop of the green flag for the 30 lap Feature Event, it was clear
that Anderson was back to attack. Jumping out to the early lead,
Anderson would battle with Lawrenceburg Speedway standout, #3X Derek Franks,
and the young 15 year old #17 Chris Windom, in the early circuits.
However, Anderson made short work of stretching out his lead to
a comfortable margin, even after a lap 5 red flag for #3J of Brad Sweet
allowed his competitors to line up on his tail. By lap 16, lapped
traffic started to play a role, allowing the hard charges of #17 Chris Windom
to close the gap. As the laps wound down, Windom was in striking distance of
the #34, and on the white flag lap, Anderson would make a rare mistake
allowing Windom to cleanly sneak under him. A dash from turn four to the
finish line, would find Anderson victorious by a nose.
After the race, Anderson commented in Victory Lane, "I think I took the
slowest victory lap ever because I wasn't sure if I even won it. It was
a fun race, being able to beat wheels to the finish is exciting. Man, I
love these big money races at The Lawrenceburg Speedway!"
AJ Anderson joins Bryan Clauson (2004) and Kevin Briscoe (2005) as
winners of the race in celebration of the great Dick Gaines, who captivated
fans by winning at least 3 Lawrenceburg Speedway Track Championships and
securing hundreds and hundreds of victories all over the country in
his 30 year career.
