Anderson Takes Lawrenceburg Leg Of The King Of Indiana Sprint Series Competition In A Thriller
by Mike O’Leary

May 29, 2006 -A.J. Anderson, the State Line Indiana native, already a winner on Memorial Day weekend after being victorious at The Gas City Speedway on Friday night, drove his family owned #34 to Victory Lane on Saturday night at the King Of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS) event at The Lawrenceburg Speedway. Anderson, who started in the second row of the Feature Event, would put on a thrilling show, battling two and three wide with Kevin Huntley and Brandon Petty before taking home the hardware.

The race would begin with #26x Jonathan Vennard jumping to the early lead, with Anderson in tow. By the second circuit Anderson made the bottom groove home, overtaking Vennard, who was followed by the #21R of Kevin Huntley. With 5 laps in the books, Huntley would power past Vennard, and start his throttle mashing charge on the Lawrenceburg Speedway cushion. With momentum on his side, Huntley would soon be wheel to wheel with Anderson. Lap after lap, the two duked it out, with the #11x of Brandon Petty throwing himself into the mix half way into the race.

Anderson, Huntley and Petty would awe the crowd with their slicing and dicing two and three abreast, with Huntley capturing a very narrow lead on lap 18. Huntley would remain up front, with Anderson and Petty in dangerously close pursuit, until a lap 22 caution would fly. After the caution, the 2005 Lawrenceburg Speedway Track Champion, Petty, would dig deep to regain his momentum on the top side, while Huntley would do everything in his power to retain the lead. A hustling Anderson, would get back by Huntley on lap 24, by a nose. The duo would swap the lead in every corner of every lap for the last six laps of the Feature Event. The veteran, Huntley, obviously sensing how equal he and Anderson were likely to be at the checkered, moved down the track in the final lap in an attempt to take away Anderson's preferred line. Anderson would not be denied, working the #34 even lower on the race track, capturing the victory by a nose at The Lawrenceburg Speedway flag stand. Petty would secure the final podium position, with Jonathan Vennard and Jon Stanbrough rounding out the top 5.

The SK Construction Sprint Cars will be on hand next Saturday June 3rd at The Lengendary Lawrenceburg Speedway. Log on to www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com for more information.
