KISS Doubleheader Kicks Off 2006 Series
by Mike O’Leary

May 15, 2006 - The opening of the 2006 King of Indiana Sprint Series (KISS) season has shifted to a busy doubleheader this coming weekend as Bloomington Speedway hosts the KISS racers on Friday, and then they take a short ride up to Putnamville’s Lincoln Park Speedway on Saturday.  With the rain out at Gas City/I-69 Speedway last Friday, the chase for the KISS crown has been shortened to just six events.

What do Jon Stanbrough, Dave Darland, Tony Elliott, Michael Burthay and Kevin Briscoe have in common?  Answer: they have all won KISS series races on either the Bloomington or Lincoln Park ovals.  Obviously, this is one tough short list.

SCHEDULE.  The 2006 KISS tour will roll off Friday, May 19, at the Bloomington Speedway.  24-hours later, Saturday, May 20, they take the green at Putnamville’s Lincoln Park SpeedwayLawrenceburg Speedway hosts the KISS racers on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 27.  After a couple weeks to catch their breath, the KISS racers will start their final leg with a big Sunday show at Kokomo Speedway on June 18th.  The title battle will begin to come into sharp focus at Paragon Speedway on Saturday, June 24.  Then racers will kick off their Independence Day weekend with the KISS grand finale at the Terre Haute Action Track and the crowning of a new (or repeat) King of Indiana Sprints on July 1.
