DAVE DARLAND DOUBLES UP AT MANZY - LEVI JONES WINS USAC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

JERRY COONS JR AND DAMION GARDNER WIN PRELIMS -
GARDENR USAC/CRA CHAMPIONSHIP

November 14, 2005...The 38th Western World went off with Lealand McSpadden, Dave Darland, Levi Jones, Jerry Coons Jr and Damion Gardner all shining after the
three day event. Lealand McSpadden was the Grand Marshal, representing as a Hall of Fame Champion for his outstanding racing career as Dave Darland ran away with the $12,500 winners share in the USAC/CRA 40 lap finale on Saturday night. He drove the Hoosier Race Tires - Weld Wheels, Chalk, Claxton # 11. Darland led the last 35 laps with no one able to stop him as he swept the last two USAC National points races
with apparent ease.

Levi Jones held on to his slim point lead as he finished second on the night and was crowned the 2005 USAC National Sprint Car Champion. Levi set a new track record on Thursday with a 18.301 lap in his Lucas Oil - Karavan Trailer, Maxim, Gaerte # 2B and finished second to Darland in the big money race.

Damion Gardner drove the Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply - Arizona Race Mart, Eagle, Shaver # 50 to two third place finishes and his 15th USAC/CRA win of the season in the Friday night prelim. That victory wrapped up his first USAC/CRA driving and the championship with one more race to be run.

Jerry Coons Jr won the opening night 25 lapper coming from his sixth place starting spot to overtake Mike Spencer who was very close to his first ever win. Jerry was second the next night, then had a flat while going to the front on Saturday and ended up 12th after restarting in the back.

There were 51 sprinters looking for gold when the weekend started with plenty of action each night. Cory Kruseman won the 360 portion of the Western World driving the Dave Ellis machine as 66 cars competed in that class.

The USAC/CRA season ends this next weekend with the annual Kindoll Classic at Perris Auto Speedway as the 39th race of the season closes the year.
