(APRIL 27, 2005, PERRIS, CA) Damion Gardner heads
into Saturday's Perris Auto Speedway Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply Valvoline
USAC/CRA Sprint Car program; presented by the 6th Annual Pomona RV Show, with a
commanding lead in the Snap-on Tools Trophy Dash point standings.
Known as the "Demon" to all of his fans, Gardner has been in every
single Snap-on Tools Trophy Dash to date. In fact, the Concord, California
superstar has been fast qualifier at all four of the USAC/CRA races at The PAS
this year. Quite amazingly he has out qualified the competition at seven of the
first eight races in the series. San Clemente, California's Seth Wilson has been
the only driver to best Gardner in qualifying this season. That happened at the
March 19th race at Phoenix, Arizonas Manzanita Speedway when Wilson clocked
in with a 19.485 to edge second fast qualifier Gardner who had a 19.552.
Gardner holds a 12-point advantage in the Snap-on Tool standings over Torrance,
California's Mike Kirby. Camarillo, California's Josh Ford, Charles Davis Jr. of
Buckeye, Arizona and up and coming Bakersfield, California teenager Alan Ballard
round out the top five in the standings.
The Snap-on Tools dash is a 3-lap race for the four fastest qualifiers at every
USAC/CRA race at The PAS. The three lapper pays a hefty $500.00 purse with
$200.00 going to the winner. In addition, the winner of each dash receives a
$100.00 gift certificate from Snap-on. At the end of the season, the driver with
the most points in the dash will receive a $5,000.00 tool package from Snap-on.
Saturday's all action show will consist of qualifying, the three lap Snap-on
Tools Dash, 4 heat races, B Main and a 30 lap A-main event. Spectator gates will
open at 5:00 PM.
Perris Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the freeway close Lake Perris
Fairgrounds, home of the Southern California Fair, approximately one hour east
of Los Angeles. Take the 215 Freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go east
two and a half miles to the fairgrounds.
