SOKOLA CLASSIC SET FOR MARCH 18/19 AT MANZANITA
By Ken Wagner

March 15, 2005 - With the Valvoline USAC/CRA series only four races old, the next chapter begins in Phoenix, Arizona on March 18/19 at Manzanita Speedway with the 5th annual Sokola Classic.

Damion Gardner is pressing for the points lead, only five behind leader Charles Davis Jr, after two wins and a second place finish the last three races.

Cory Kruseman’s first win this season sets the stage for the battle in the desert this weekend.

Mike Kirby, the former leader, until motor problems sent him to the pits early last Saturday at Bakersfield, is ready to reclaim the lead at a place he loves to race.

Super Rickie Gaunt is looking for his first win this year with the club.

Defending champion, Rip Williams, is gunning for his 100th sprint car win and it may happen this weekend as Bill Rose And Dave Darland join the fray from the Indiana USAC scene.

Local drivers Jeremy Sherman and Bob Ream Jr will challenge the strong field as some 40 racers are expected to run for the $5000 to win feature in Saturday night..
